SAP Business One for the Chemical Industry
SAP Business One for the chemical industry unites formula/recipe management, batch traceability, and SDS/ISO regulatory compliance in one system. Batch-level traceability means a recall can be triggered within minutes, cutting audit preparation from days to hours. Quality testing and safety documentation run as part of the production workflow itself.
Run formula management, MRP, quality testing, and safety documentation together in the chemical industry — control production costs and gain full traceability.

Common questions in the chemical industry
01Is formula and recipe management standard in SAP Business One?
Production BOMs are part of the standard production module, while BOM revision control is not standard and is set up with user-defined fields or an add-on. So raw materials, ratios and alternative components are managed without extra software. Process-manufacturing specifics such as by-products, rework and potency-based recipe calculation need configuration or an add-on — we define that boundary during scoping.
02How quickly can we run a batch-level recall?
Batch management is a standard inventory feature: forward and backward traceability reports show in minutes which production batches a raw-material batch went into and which customers received them. The only requirement is that batch numbers are recorded at every movement, from goods receipt to shipment.
03Can safety data sheets and compliance documents live in the system?
Documents can be attached to item and batch records through the standard attachment layer and linked to shipping paperwork. There is no standard module that generates safety data sheet content itself, so if you need automatic generation and version control we plan that as custom development.
04Can hazardous materials be kept in separate stock locations?
Yes. Multiple warehouses and bin locations are standard, so hazardous materials sit in dedicated warehouses or bin groups and stock movements are reported along that split. If storage temperature has to be tracked, measurement device data is fed into the system through an integration.
