SAP Business One for Hospitals
SAP Business One for hospitals manages medical-supply and drug inventory with lot/expiry tracking, alongside procurement and equipment/fixed-asset processes under department-level budgets, all in one system. Centralized, request-based procurement significantly cuts expired-stock losses and gives real-time, department-level stock visibility. The procurement cycle shortens, and every transaction stays audit-ready.

Common questions about hospital operations
01Does SAP Business One cover patient and HIS processes?
It does not. SAP Business One runs the hospital back office: inventory, purchasing, fixed assets, budgeting and finance. Patient registration, appointments and medical records stay in your HIS; if material consumption or billing data has to move between the two, that is built as an integration.
02How do expiry and lot tracking work for drugs and consumables?
Batch (lot) and expiry date tracking are standard inventory features: issues are set to draw from the batch that expires first, and the approaching-expiry report gives early warning. Which department consumed which lot stays on record.
03Can budgets and consumption be reported by department?
Yes. Cost centres and distribution rules are standard, so each ward or department is defined as its own cost centre and consumable issues and purchases are posted there. Budget-versus-actual variance is then followed by department.
04Can purchase approval follow our own authority levels?
Yes, approval procedures are standard: different approval levels are defined by amount, department and item group, and a request goes automatically to the right person. The levels themselves are derived from your internal policy during the initial analysis.
